FREE SPRING BREAK DAY CAMP | Boys and girls, grades K-5. Join Yakima Parks and Recreation’s AmeriCorps staff for crafts, games and trips to the pool. STAYCATION @ THE LIBRARY | The downtown Yakima Library and Selah Library are each hosting free daily activities the week of March 29 through April 2 for families who are staying close to home. Here’s the schedule:

KIDS CASTLE SPRING BREAK HOURS | 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. March 29-April 2. On Monday, March 29, Kids Castle prices are $2.50 all day for children 2 and under, ages 3 and up are $5.25 for an hour or $8 unlimited. The rest of the week is open gym: Up to age 2, $3 for an hour or $4.25 all day; ages 3 and up are $6 for one hour or $9 all day. Every Wednesday, two kids play for the price of one. STRIKERS SOCCER CAMP | Boys and girls, grades 1-8. Improve your skills at this three-day camp presented by Yakima Parks and Recreation and the Sun City Strikers Soccer Club. YMCA hosts camp registration night

The Yakima Family YMCA will kick off registration for its summer day camp and residential camp programs with an event from 4-7 p.m. March 23. Families can drop in to learn about the camp programs offered by the Y and get started with a cookie dough sale fund-raiser.
The YMCA offers local day camps throughout the summer as well as various overnight sessions at Camp Dudley, a traditional overnight summer camp on Clear Lake. Camp directors Mikeal Doyle and Matt Rusch will be available at the March 23 meeting to answer questions.

Yakima Parks offers winter break camps

Instead of staying home alone, children ages 5-12 can play and make crafts with friends at this Yakima Parks & Recreation winter day camp program, which offers supervised activities at the Southeast Community Center, 1211 S. Seventh St., Yakima.
The camp will meet from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 21-23 and 8:30 a.m. to noon Dec. 24. Participants should bring a sack lunch.

Dudley will host Winter Camp

The Yakima Family YMCA will offer a two-night Winter Camp for youth ages 7-15 in December.
Campers will sleep in the lodge and participate in camp activities such as sledding, snowball fights and a movie night.
The camp will meet Dec. 28-30 at Camp Dudley. Cost is $85; YMCA membership is not required. For more information, call Matt Rusch at 972-5271.
Families invited to Mountain Meadow Christmas Camp

Families are invited to decorate gingerbread houses, go sledding and warm up with cocoa and carols by the fire at Ghormley Meadow Christian Camp’s Mountain Meadow Christmas the weekend of Dec. 4-6, 2009.
Participants can visit for the day or enjoy up to two nights in restroom-equipped cabins, which start at $25 for a private room in a cabin with a shared bath. Buffet-style meals are served in the dining hall; kids ages 6 and younger are free.
Activities include cutting your own Christmas tree, board games, hay rides and Sunday morning worship service. Ghormley Meadow is affiliated with First Presbyterian Church of Yakima.

CAMP HORSEPOWER | Participants will build new friendships – two- and four-legged – at this camp, which aims to foster relationships and respect in a nurturing, safe environment. Campers will learn to dress the horses and work with them on the ground; not a riding camp.

Mountain Meadow Christmas Camp

Families are invited to cut their own Christmas trees, decorate gingerbread houses and sing carols by the fire at Ghormley Meadow Christian Camp’s Mountain Meadow Christmas the weekend of Dec. 5-7, 2008.
The winter retreat for families is a first-ever event for the Rimrock camp, which is affiliated with First Presbyterian Church of Yakima. Participants can visit for the day or enjoy up to two nights in restroom-equipped cabins. Meals and transportation from Yakima are available.
Activities include sledding, hay rides and Sunday morning worship service.
Prices vary depending on activities and accommodations. Rates and registration are available on the camp’s Web site.

YMCA Winter Leadership Camp

The Yakima Family YMCA will offer a weekend Winter Leadership Camp for youth ages 10-14 in December.
The camp is designed to give youth a push in the right direction on making healthy decisions, but also features camp activities such as snowball fights, sledding and a movie night.

CAMP DUDLEY
