Arbor Day and Arbor Festival
Get ready to spring green! That’s what the Yakima Area Arboretum has in mind for two events in April.
Arbor Day Tree Planting is set for Wednesday, April 11. Check with the Arboretum for details on times and locations, so you can plant your own tree.
Then, the 13th annual Arbor Festival is Saturday, April 14. The year’s event, dubbed “Go Green!”, runs 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on the arboretum grounds.
The free event gives families the opportunity to learn how to be environmentally friendly. The day will be packed with crafts, displays and other hands-on activities. More than 600 families will get to take home a tree to continue the tradition of planting a tree for Arbor Day.
There will be more than 30 organizations with booths at the festival. You can visit the arboretum’s website at ahtrees.org for the list and other information.
The Yakima Area Arboretum is located at 1401 Arboretum Drive in Yakima. 509-248-7337.
