The Yakima Valley Community College Dental Hygiene Clinic will offer its annual Free Dental Sealant Day on Feb. 6. The clinic is open to anyone ages 6-21; minors must be accompanied by a parent or guardian.
Patients will receive a dental exam, fluoride treatment and, if needed, dental sealants. A sealant is a safe plastic coating that is painted onto the tooth. The sealant protects the tooth from bacteria that can cause cavities.
The Dental Hygiene Clinic is located on the YVCC campus on S. 16th Avenue, just north of Nob Hill Boulevard in Yakima.
Limited to 150 appointments. To schedule an appointment, call 839-7215 between Jan. 25 and Feb. 5.

NOTE: A couple careful readers have brought to our attention that the date for Engineering Day was incorrect on page 14 of the magazine. However, the calendar is correct: Engineering Day will be Saturday, Feb. 20. We apologize for the error.
The local chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers wants to get kids hooked on science and math. The group is hosting an Engineering Day for Kids on Feb. 20.
The free event for elementary school students will offer hands-on activities and simple projects, such as building a vehicle with Lifesavers and straws, that can be replicated at home; activity information sheets will be provided.
Engineering Day for Kids will be from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Feb. 20 in the Hopf Union Building (HUB) at Yakima Valley Community College in Yakima. For more information, contact Natalie Martinkus at 457-4009, ext. 224.
