Yakima Youth Track

YAKIMA YOUTH TRACK | Kids of all ages can burn some energy — and improve their skills— at this three-week family track and field program in July.
For more than two decades, Scott and Jennifer Wells have organized this youth camp, providing an hour of practice on Monday and Tuesday evenings, followed by an all-comers meet on Wednesday.
Participants include preschoolers, grown-ups and lots of kids in between. Coaches and guest speakers offer instruction on speed development, flexibility, strength training and motivation.
Yakima Youth Track meets Monday through Wednesday evenings, July 14-30. On Mondays and Tuesdays, students in preschooler through fifth grade practice from 6:30-7:30 p.m., followed by sixth-grade students through adults from 7:30-8:45 p.m.
All-comers meets are held at 6:30 p.m. Wednesdays. Participants compete in age-appropriate brackets and everybody gets a ribbon.
There’s a $40 fee per youngster, capped at $120 per family; preregister to secure your space. Drop-in participants can join Wednesday meets for $5. T-shirts are available for $10.
Yakima Youth Track meets at Davis High’s Kumler Field, located at the corner of Cornell Avenue and Baker Street, between Tieton Drive and Nob Hill Boulevard. For more information, or to register, call Scott and Jennifer Wells at 678-5680.
